Glenn & Wilma Pettyjohn Meditation Garden & Labyrinth Kickoff

Submitted on Friday September 21st, 2012

Hospice & Palliative CareCenter invites the public to attend labyrinth walks being held on its campus this fall. The Glenn & Wilma Pettyjohn Meditation Garden & Labyrinth, dedicated last spring, holds a 5-circuit labyrinth that is located behind the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. The garden is dedicated to the memory of the late H. Glenn Pettyjohn by his wife, Wilma Kiger Pettyjohn, and serves as a place of respite for visitors to the Hospice & Palliative CareCenter campus.

The fall calendar kicks off with a staff-lead Fall Equinox Labyrinth Walk on Friday, September 21, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Then beginning on October 4, hospice staff will host a weekly labyrinth walk on Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., weather permitting, through December 27. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend. The meditation garden and labyrinth are open to the public daily, sunrise to sunset. The space is wheelchair accessible, with easy access for all from nearby parking lots.

"The journey in and out of the labyrinth is often viewed as a metaphor for life and provides opportunities for release, renewal, and insight," explains Ann Gauthreaux, Hospice public relations director. "Our hospice campus serves as a place of respite and support for those seeking to gain comfort and understanding in their life journeys. We offer the labyrinth with the hope that it will prove to be meaningful in the lives of those who visit."
