Support Before or After a Loss
If you are grieving the death of a loved one — or caring for someone who is nearing the end of life — we are here. Connect with us for support.
Grieving the death of a loved one is hard work. Our team is here to support you.
Grief is a natural and healthy response to loss, yet it is a topic that is hard to talk about. Our team of licensed counselors is here to help you. We'll help you better understand the grief process, explore ways to cope, and reinforce your supports. We’ll meet you where you are and help you find a meaningful way forward.
Request Grief Counseling
Grief counseling sessions are a safe space to share your story and to process how grief is affecting you, before or after a loss. Our team of licensed counselors provides support for children, teens, and adults. We can also meet with families. We provide short-term grief support to help you work through intense feelings, understand the grief process, and build coping skills. This may include referrals to other providers for longer-term, more intensive therapy.
Services are available to patients and families served by Trellis Supportive Care and to community members who are grieving a death-related loss. Thanks to generous donations, there is no charge for services.

For Patients and Families
A serious illness can create many big and small changes in a family’s life. It requires a lot of emotional energy to navigate a “new normal.” Having the support of a counselor before a death occurs can be helpful. Both patients and loved ones benefit from sharing their stories and receiving support for today, while looking ahead to the future.
As members of the Trellis team, grief counselors can meet with current patients and their caregivers. If you are at our KBR Hospice Home, you might meet one of our counselors as they make weekday rounds. Counselors can also visit in the home or connect with families in the office and through telehealth visits. To request grief support, talk with a member of your Trellis care team.
Services are also available to patients and families in the community who are not yet connected with hospice or palliative care. Thanks to generous donations, there is no charge for services. To learn more, call (336) 331-1300 or click the button to request grief support.
Groups and Workshops
You are not alone. Support groups provide a space for members to connect through their losses, and a variety of workshops offer support through education and the creative arts.
The group schedule is updated throughout the year. Advanced registration for all groups and workshops is required. Call (336) 331-1300 or click the buttons below for more information.

Pet Loss Support Group
If you are grieving the death of a pet, know that you are not alone. Our pet loss group meets through a mix of virtual and in-person sessions. Group meetings are for adults who are grieving the loss of a beloved pet or animal companion. We also offer supportive resources and grief kits for families with children who are coping with the impending loss of death of a pet.
Call (336) 331-1300 to register for the monthly pet loss group or for more information. See Group Offerings for session details.

Community Education and Support
Grief counselors provide education and support throughout the community. We can offer on-site support to schools and businesses who are coping with losses. We also offer grief education to workplaces, civic groups, and faith communities.

About Camp Carousel
Grief is a natural response to loss, and it is especially important for children and teens to have opportunities to tell their stories and receive support. Campers learn coping skills that can help them thrive well into adulthood.
Campers will develop skills for healthy coping, find support with peers of their own age, and explore ideas for expression and remembering. We know that fun, creative, meaningful activities, as well as the chance to tell stories, can foster connection and deepen the healing process.
Camp Carousel also offers a day retreat for adults who are grieving the death of a loved one. This retreat includes rituals for remembering, mindfulness practices, and expression through the arts.
Trellis offers this camp for the community at no charge to participants. For more information about Camp Carousel sessions call (336) 331-1300.
