Caregiver Support
While Trellis Supportive Care team members make routine visits and are available 24/7, the role of the primary caregiver cannot be underestimated. We understand that caring for a loved one can be overwhelming, and your hospice team is here to give you support too. Let your care team know what support you need because it is always okay to lean on us for help.
Trellis also offers caregiver support to anyone in the community caring for a loved one, regardless of your Trellis connection. We offer workshops and an entire website dedicated to supporting caregivers.
Building caregiver confidence.
We have created Caregiver Confidence workshops to provide helpful tips and techniques. Our Caregiver Confidence program was designed specifically to help support family caregivers with the tools, resources, and training to be more confident as a caregiver. It is available to Trellis Supportive Care families as well as anyone in the community.
The Caregiver Confidence program helps caregivers on many levels, including customized training to care for their loved one. Examples of topics include organizing medical information, home safety, fall prevention, caring for yourself, safe transfers in and out of bed/chair, preventing bed sores, managing incontinence, and much more. The workshops are offered in two parts, free of charge.
Another valuable resource for caregivers.
In addition to our workshops, we host a website that has a great deal of helpful information for anyone dealing with a serious illness or caring for someone who is seriously ill. From learning about the disease process, managing symptoms, knowing what to expect and how to best manage care - this website may become a valuable resource. Visit the site to learn more.
